Amherst, MA - October 1, 2003 -- Reader To Reader, Inc. is teaming with Barnes & Noble Booksellers to bring thousands of new books to needy schools across the United States.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers has announced a regional sponsorship of Reader To Reader, Inc., a public charity that brings books to under-resourced school libraries across the country. Under the terms of the sponsorship, Barnes & Noble Booksellers will donate thousands of new books to Reader To Reader and will provide $1,000 to be used by schools for special book purchases. Reader To Reader will distribute the monies to schools that have shown exceptional commitment to strengthening the quality of education and literacy at their school.

“We are so pleased to be working with Barnes & Noble and appreciate their desire to help us bring books to these desperately needy schools,” notes Reader To Reader executive director David Mazor. “From the moment we first met with Barnes & Noble we have been impressed with their energetic response to this school library crisis and their willingness to suggest ways that they can contribute to a solution. We look forward to working together and growing this relationship over the coming years.

An October 24 ceremony is planned to announce the first monetary award for a needy school in the Springfield, Massachusetts area.
