Dear Friend of Reader To Reader,

I hope you enjoy this newsletter about the Reader To Reader Book Project. Our success is very much due to your donations of books, postage money, and most of all your generous spirit. Please forward this newsletter and help us spread the word.

This month I am pleased to tell you about a wonderful book that we are providing to elementary schools. It’s called "My Brother's Keeper, A Kindergartner's View of Autism". This unique book was self-published by Donna Richards and tells the story of her five-year-old, Justin Richards, as seen through the eyes of his six-year-old brother, Jace. Justin has autism and sensory disorder and this book does an amazing job of explaining autism in a manner that is both touching and joyful. I think every school should have a copy and also recommend it for parents as a resource for explaining autism to their young children. Our special thanks to Donna Richards for making this book available for free to hundreds of schools.

Here’s a neat story of how Reader To Reader’s Website unexpectedly brought more donations to West Tallahatchie High School in Webb, Mississippi.

Dear David,

Thank you so much for the two recent shipments of book for our library. The titles selected for us will be used just as soon as I can get them processed -- I already have a waiting list for some! We greatly appreciate your help in building our collection. Your influence on our library is greater than you know. Recently, a West Tally High graduate from the class of 1966 paid a visit to our school (his first since his graduation!) and brought books to donate. He had Googled West Tallahatchie and saw your website with a thank-you note from me for your donations. He has since sent even more books from his home in New Mexico. The good work you do for our library is far-reaching! Thanks again.

A waiting list! That sure sounds great. Speaking of letters from schools, here is one from Anchorage, Alaska.

Hi David,

I just opened your latest box of donated books. The quality of the contents just about bowled me over: virtually all new hardbacks that are currently on the shelves of bookstores right now! Most importantly, they look like books our children will want to check out.

Thank you and the staff of Reader To Reader, and the unknown people who have donated these books.

And from Alaska we move to Arkansas.

Dear David,

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have received three boxes this school term. Please accept my deepest gratitude for the books and for supporting Hughes High School.

I want to express my deepest gratitude for your kindness to me and especially to the students at Hughes High. Please keep in touch. I wish you well.

And lastly, I think Marvell High school says it so nicely.

Dear David,

You provide a tremendously valuable service to libraries of limited means like us. Thanks again.

One last item. Actor John Larroquette (yes we love “McBride” on the Hallmark Channel!) donated 40 brand-new copies of Mary Hoffman’s wondrous children’s book “Amazing Grace” to Martin Luther King Charter School in New Orleans. When asked what book they would most like to receive this was their top choice. Thank you for being such a good friend to Reader To Reader.

Thank you for reading this newsletter. Oh, and watch for our spring fundraising letter. Your financial donations help make it all possible!

Until next month,

Sincerely,
